Anonymous #2: stop crying about the criticism of referees. As a referee myself, that was a very valid point that the referee anticipated a penalty so he called it. There was no penalty. Maine should not have had that power play.

No question that was a bad call by the ref. They let almost everything go all night. Maine played with a edge all night and to only get two penalties proves the refs let things go but when you only score two goals you leave yourself open to the refs controlling the out come.

On Megan's "penalty" that led to a power play and Maine's game-winning goal: there was no penalty. The referee made a poor technical mistake. He anticipated that there was going to be a penalty, so he called a penalty.
There was no hook, nor was there anything that could have been called slashing, as Megan trailed the puck carrier on a 2-on-1 break.
In that situation, there is often stick work to hinder the puck carrier/shooter that is enough to result in a penalty.
Not in this case.
It should have been a 2-2 game, and gone to overtime ... when no one knows what might have happened.
